GREG DOUGLASS GUITARIST
Greg Douglass is an internationally known guitarist and songwriter who is probably best know for his electric guitar playing with artists like Van Morrison, Steve Miller (Greg co-wrote the hit song “Jungle Love” for Steve), Eddie Money, and many other great artists. Steve Tilston, one of the best guitarists in the UK, called Greg, “The best electric guitarist I’ve ever heard.” last June when Greg toured there. Greg’s first love, however , is the acoustic guitar. “Rock pays the bills”, said Greg, “but I’m truly at home with an acoustic in my hands.” Greg’s repertoire on acoustic ranges from classical to delta blues to latin jazz to beautiful arrangements of Beatles songs. Greg is at home in a wide variety of situations on solo guitar. He has played background music at fine restaurants, and he has shared the concert stage with some of the best acoustic finger style players in the world, including Leo Kottke, David Lindley, and Jorma Kaukonen. With a wide variety of styles at his fingertips…literally…Greg’s goal is to read the mood of the audience he’s playing for and enhance the mood of the event appropriately. Greg can go from his solo version of Carlos Santana’s “Europa” to “Girl from Ipanema” to a rocking version of the Beatle’s “Day Tripper” if that’s what the crowd wants on a given day.Greg’s two solo acoustic CDs, “The Natives Are Restless” and “Holiday Favorites”, continue to sell briskly on various internet download sites like iTunes and Amazon. In addition, one of his solo acoustic pieces was featured on the Steve Miller album “Living in the 20th Century”.Greg’s solo guitar work is the ideal addition to any event, whether it be in a concert situation or as background mood music. (Greg’s reputation as a world-class player who has appeared on scores of albums whose combined sales total close to 15 million units also adds a little extra something special to any event.)
Mr. Douglass proudly endorses and exclusively plays Taylor acoustic guitars.

From the Broadway stages of New York to the concert stages of Europe, in his four decades of music, Elliott Lawrence has pretty much done it all. As a Broadway singer/dancer performing in shows like JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, GODSPELL, PIPPIN, BUBBLING BROWN SUGAR, THE WIZ and A MATTER OF TIME, the strength of Elliott’s performances kept him working in consecutive shows for over 15 years. Elliott went back to school to perfect his craft as a jazz vocalist. He then moved to Europe where he performed in clubs and concert venues across the continent, studying and performing with jazz notables like Mark Murphy, John Hendricks, Nancy Wilson, Eric Knight, and the Charlie Parker Museum All Star Big Band.
Elliott now, back in the states, sets his sights on a new musical challenge – becoming the jazz guitarist he’s always wanted to be. His vocal training and Be-Bop influences have helped him to apply his finely tuned musicality to the guitar and the transition has been seamless. Elliott currently performs throughout Southern California as a solo guitar artist.
Amelia will be performing on April 25th and 26th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the Turf Club Courtyard, Del Mar Fairgrounds
At the age of 12, Amelia knew she wanted to be a jazz singer. In 2004 Amelia graduated from Berklee College of Music and returned to San Diego to begin her journey as a professional musician. Over the years she has performed with many groups throughout San Diego and established a private teaching studio. Amelia also leads a San Diego based quartet that offers a fresh take on Jazz expression with an unconventional repertoire and a sound all their own. In addition to the usual jazz standards, interpreted by many groups, this band offers creative arrangements of contemporary popular songs. California vs France – “Judgement of Paris Revisited”
Almost 40 years ago to the date (39 to be exact), California wines surprisingly beat out French wines in a notorious blind tasting carried out by well-respected French judges in what has become notoriously known as the “Judgement of Paris” in the wine world. Let’s re-explore / re-examine that tasting, with 5 categories tasted blind side-by-side and scored in competition: Sauvignon Blanc (Loire vs Napa), Chardonnay (Burgundy vs Sonoma), Pinot Noir (Burgundy vs Santa Lucia Highlands), Syrah (N. Rhone vs Santa Barbara), and Cab/Meritage Blend (Napa) vs Bordeaux. May the best wine win.
